HealthMy name is Noah Lawson, and I am asking for help because I am scared of losing the little vision I have left.
When I was a child, I survived Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, a rare and life-threatening disease that almost took my life. I survived, but it severely damaged my eyes and left me with very limited vision. I have only one functioning eye left; the other is badly damaged.
Simple things other people do without thinking are difficult for me. Reading, walking outside, recognizing faces, cooking, working, getting around safely and living independently all require enormous effort.
This has also caused severe anxiety and depression. The fear of losing more vision, the frustration of depending on others and the loneliness of living in darkness have taken a heavy toll on my mental health.
I have finally found a specialist in New York who may be able to help. I urgently need specialized scleral lenses that could improve my vision and reduce the more than twenty eye drops I use each day, as well as complex surgery on my only functioning eye.
My insurance will not cover these treatments, and the cost reaches six figures. Follow-up appointments are required every six weeks, and I cannot afford them alone. I have held onto the dream of seeing better for 33 years, but every time I get close, it is pulled away again.
I am not asking for luxury. I am asking for the chance to see better, live with greater independence and stop feeling so alone in this fight.
Please help me access the surgery and specialized lenses I need. Any donation brings me one step closer to protecting my remaining vision. If you cannot donate, sharing my story or saying a prayer can still help. ππ
