Not long ago, I underwent a stem cell transplant, hoping it would finally give me a chance to beat cancer and rebuild my life. Sadly, my disease returned sooner than expected.
Because my relapse happened within the required waiting period, my healthcare funding will not cover a second stem cell transplant. Even though my doctors believe this second transplant is my only real chance for a cure, the procedure is not being funded due to the enormous financial risk and the potential cost of complications.
Hearing this news has been absolutely devastating. Knowing that there is a treatment that could save my life, yet being unable to receive it because of financial barriers, is something I never imagined I would face.
This second stem cell transplant is not just another treatment—it is my best and only hope of beating this disease. Every day that passes without treatment gives the cancer more time to progress and reduces my chances of recovery.
My family and I are doing everything we can to raise the funds needed to move forward with this life-saving transplant. Unfortunately, the cost is far beyond what we could ever afford on our own.
