HealthMy name is Lourdes Jesús, and writing these words is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my entire life.
I never imagined I would have to ask strangers for help to try to save my son.
Thiago is only 7 years old. He should be running, playing, going to school, and enjoying the childhood every child deserves. But instead, he spends his days in hospitals, among tests, needles, and chemotherapy sessions, fighting a devastating disease called Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).
Leukemia is a cancer that affects the bone marrow and prevents the body from producing healthy blood cells. As a result, his body loses the ability to fight infections, carry oxygen, and control bleeding. A simple cold can put his life at risk.
Every day I watch my little boy suffer.
The chemotherapy is extremely aggressive. It causes him severe pain, unbearable exhaustion, constant nausea, vomiting, fever, hair loss, and a weakness so intense that many times he can't even get out of bed. There are days when he cannot eat, play, or even smile.
There is no greater pain for a mother than hearing her son beg for the pain to stop and not being able to do anything to ease it.
Since we received the diagnosis, I had to stop working to care for him 24 hours a day. Thiago depends on me completely. I go with him to every appointment, every hospitalization, and every treatment. I cannot leave him alone for even a moment.
That means we have no source of income today.
While we fight to save my son's life, we also face another battle: covering the most basic needs of our home. We need help buying food, medications, paying for transportation to the hospital, rent, utilities, and everything necessary to keep going.
Medical expenses are enormous and keep increasing. Many times I wonder how I am going to get the money for the next treatment, or simply to put a plate of food on the table.
Despite all the pain he faces, Thiago is still a child full of dreams. He asks me when he will be able to run again, play with other children, and live a normal childhood.
I keep believing that day will come.
But I cannot fight this battle alone.
Today, with all the humility in my heart, I ask you to help us. Any donation, no matter how small, brings us a little closer to hope. Your support will allow us to continue Thiago's treatment, buy his medications, cover transportation to the hospital, and sustain our family's basic needs while we keep fighting for his life.
And if you cannot donate right now, please share our story. A simple gesture can reach the right person and become the miracle we so badly need.
From one mother to another, from one father to another, from heart to heart…
Please help us give my son the chance to keep living.
May God bless everyone who decides to reach out a hand to us.
With all my love and eternal gratitude,
Lourdes Jesús
Thiago's Mom. ❤️
